Trained as a scientist. Licensed as a contractor. Fluent in both.
Before you sign, we assess the space against your specific instrument requirements — mechanical, electrical, plumbing, exhaust, gas systems. We tell you what it will really cost to build out, and whether it's worth signing at all.
From $5,000 flatWe serve as your expert during the buildout — managing the general contractor, reviewing submittals, attending site walks, coordinating equipment vendors with trade schedules. Your interests, protected at every milestone.
$175–250/hr · or % of projectSpec, source, and negotiate major instrument purchases with someone who knows list price from street price — and knows what service contracts are actually worth. We know the vendors, and they know us.
Flat fee or retainerThe details that sink lab projects aren't obvious. Tissue culture rooms overbuilt by design, over budget by consequence. Emergency power loads nobody considered until move-in day. Equipment layouts that work on a drawing but don't work at the bench. These gaps live between design and discovery — and they're exactly where we work.
Convey was founded by Will Lannon specifically to close that gap. Will holds a B.S. in Biology from Purdue University, an M.S. in Engineering and Technology Management from Louisiana Tech University, and currently serves as Director of Laboratories at Columbia University's Department of Biological Sciences — where he oversees research laboratory buildouts and major equipment installations every day.
He is also a licensed New Jersey contractor (NJ Lic. 13VH12986200) and NYC Home Improvement Contractor (Lic. 2131384-DCWP) with nearly a decade of hands-on project management experience. He's worked at the bench. So when he reviews a design, he sees what the architects, engineers, and builders don't — what works on paper and fails in practice.
That combination — scientific literacy plus construction credentials — is not something you can hire for. It's something you bring in as an advisor.
Based in Teaneck, NJ. Serving the NY/NJ/CT life sciences corridor. Available for feasibility reviews, project advisory, and equipment procurement engagements.
30 minutes. We learn your instrument mix, timeline, budget, and space situation. No charge, no obligation.
We define exactly what engagement makes sense — feasibility review, ongoing advisory, procurement support, or a combination.
We get to work — site visits, contractor reviews, vendor coordination, document review. You get a real expert on your side.
Your lab opens on time, built right, at the budget we planned. Your team can focus on the science instead of the construction.
Whether you're pre-lease, mid-buildout, or trying to spec major equipment — a 30-minute call costs nothing and usually saves a lot. Reach out and we'll be in touch within one business day.
